Brain Corp Promotes John Back to Chief Technology Officer and Hires Dr. Kavitha Velusamy as Senior Vice President of Software and AI

Mr. Black’s promotion to CTO reflects his deep understanding of customer needs and his proven ability to develop products while nurturing OEM partnerships that make Brain Corp’s solutions unique and scalable. Since joining Brain Corp in 2015, he has served as VP of Engineering and SVP of Strategy, playing an instrumental role in the company’s growth and in forging partnerships for new robotic products and applications based on BrainOS® technology. He helped commercialize the first fully autonomous floor scrubber and has helped Brain Corp drive unprecedented scale in the robotics industry, with a fleet of more than 40,000 robots that have logged over 21 million autonomous hours and covered 295 billion square feet of space. In his new role as CTO, John will ensure the company’s technical vision remains closely aligned with its business objectives.

Dr. Velusamy's hiring reinforces Brain Corp's legacy as the leading technology and AI company in commercial robotics, and her expertise will be vital for its next phase of innovation. A celebrated leader with two decades of experience, she will now oversee the company’s AI and software teams, focusing on guiding the technical vision behind Brain Corp’s advancements in AI and helping to drive innovation across what's possible in robotics and AI.

Dr. Velusamy brings deep expertise in artificial intelligence and robotics, with leadership roles at Robust.AI, NVIDIA, and Amazon Lab126, where she was part of the founding team behind Amazon Echo and Alexa. She earned her PhD in Signal Processing from the Indian Institute of Science and is an instructor teaching Artificial Intelligence for Robotics at the University of California, Santa Cruz.
