Senior Software Engineer, Cloud (Remote Eligible)

Position Summary:

As a member of the Software Engineering team, the Senior Software Engineer is responsible for building software systems for our commercial products. As a senior software engineer, you will work to build the systems that connect our robots, keep them running smoothly, and gather data from them to feed development, operations, and reporting. You will work with a growing team of talented engineers using modern tools and processes to rapidly deliver software to the cloud. Within the team, you will lead development efforts on features and functionality to enhance our capability to communicate with robots as well as enhance our fleet management capabilities.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable and reliable cloud infrastructure on the Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
  • Design and implement the tooling and infrastructure critical for optimizing our CI/CD pipelines, ensuring seamless and efficient development workflows.
  • Develop APIs and services to facilitate seamless integration between the cloud platform and various web and robotic applications.
  • Understand and work within a system of authentication and authorization.
  • Work closely with the web and robotic application teams to understand their requirements and provide technical guidance and support.
  • Implement security best practices and ensure compliance with data protection regulations.
  • Continuously monitor and optimize the performance and reliability of the cloud platform, identifying and resolving any issues or bottlenecks.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in cloud technologies, sharing knowledge and best practices with the team.
  • Coordinate problem resolution among a variety of functional areas and provide subject matter expertise support for diagnosing and resolving problems.
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior members of the cloud engineering team.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering or a related field.
  • 5-7 years of demonstrated experience in software engineering..
  • Strong experience in cloud engineering, with a focus on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics:

  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Go, Python, and TypeScript, with a demonstrated ability to write clean, maintainable code and using version control systems like git.
  • Solid understanding of cloud infrastructure and related technologies (compute, storage, networking, etc.) on GCP.
  • Proficient with underlying linux features such as cgroups, lvm, and systemd
  • Hands-on experience with infrastructure-as-code tools like Pulumi or similar technologies.
  • Familiarity with containerization technologies such as Docker and orchestration frameworks like Kubernetes.
  • Strong understanding of RESTful APIs and the ability to design and develop them.
  • Knowledge of security best practices and experience implementing secure cloud architectures.
  • Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills, with a proactive and results-oriented approach.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to multitask and flexibility to adjust to changing priorities.
  • A passion for robotics, automation and technology.

Things that make a difference:

  • MS in computer science, software engineering or a related field.
  • Experience with robotic software development or working with robotics-related technologies.
  • Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and related tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD).
  • Knowledge of event-driven architectures and messaging systems (e.g., Pub/Sub, Kafka).
  • Understanding of Agile methodologies
  • Experience in all phases of the software development lifecycle

Salary Range:

The anticipated salary range for candidates who will work in San Diego, California is $133,565 to $161,684. The final salary offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and length of experience within the job, type and length of experience within the industry, education, etc. Brain Corp is a multi-state employer and this salary range may not reflect positions that work in other states.
